![]() We didn't think we would be seeing a laptop to make the Asus Eee look expensive any time soon, but Elonex have announced the Elonex One which they are calling the first sub £100 laptop. Hardware details are a little sketchy but they are listing a 3 hour battery life, Wi-Fi, flash-based hard drive, hard-wearing case and wireless music server (whatever that may be) and the whole thing weighs in at less than 1kg. Interestingly, the keyboard can be detached to allow the unit to be used in a tablet mode, although as the budget doesn't seem to run to a touchscreen the usefulness of that remains to be seen... “Introducing the Elonex ‘ONE’ laptop, the UK’s first sub £100 laptop. Aimed at the Education Sector, the ONE is an ultra-portable laptop that gives wireless access to internet, eMail, word processing and spreadsheets. These functions are the fundamental building blocks which form the foundation of a child’s computing skills which can then be developed throughout their education. The ONE is designed to engage and motivate children and will open up a wide range of new and innovative teaching methods.” |
